A sister, bandmate and triplet
Nicole Taylor, one-third of the country music trio Taylor Red, has died at 35 after a battle with breast cancer. Her triplet sisters and bandmates, Nika and Natalie Taylor, shared the news in an emotional TikTok video on Monday, November 2.
The sisters said Nicole died on September 28. Speaking through tears, they described themselves as heartbroken and still processing the loss, but said they take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
Facing cancer with faith
According to her sisters, Nicole was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 breast cancer in 2022. From the start, they said, she chose to face it without fear and leaned on her faith, which she believed would carry her through.
She kept up an active life during treatment, even doing CrossFit while going through chemotherapy. She responded well, and at one point was declared to have no evidence of disease.
About nine months later, the cancer returned as stage 4. Doctors told her she might have around three months to live, though they couldn't predict how long she might have if treatment worked. Her sisters said the news came as a big shock.
Nicole went on to live roughly a year after that prognosis. Her sisters said she stayed hopeful, kept working hard, traveled and tried to enjoy life. They added that she felt a deep sense of peace in her final months, something they said they are grateful for.
Taylor Red's rise
Nicole performed alongside Nika and Natalie in Taylor Red, a sister trio known for songs including "Country Money" and "Rent Free." After years of trying to break into the country music industry, the group found a breakthrough on TikTok, where their music reached a wide new audience.
In a 2021 interview with People, Nicole praised the platform for giving artists a fair shot, saying it "gives everyone a chance."
In a YouTube video posted Monday, her sisters shared an old clip of Nicole in her 20s talking about her faith, and said they would do their best to keep sharing her story.
